Great news from Viva Wyndham
Resorts, a leading all-inclusive resort brand throughout the Caribbean. Our
dive centers are located in Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach hotel in Grand Bahama
and in Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach & Palace hotels in Dominican Republic. All
the chain of resorts has now eliminated plastic straws.
Why Are Straws So Bad For The
Environment?
1. Plastic
straws can't be recycled
2. Plastics do
not biodegrade, and never fully degrade
3. Plastic
straws are among the top 10 items found during beach clean ups. Plastic waste is
littering our oceans and threatening the lives of millions of marine animals.
When ingesting plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate.
Staring from September 1, 2018,
the plastic straws are replaced with biodegradable straws in all the Viva
Wyndham Resorts. The objective is to reduce the consumption of plastic in order
to contribute to the protection of the environment and specifically, the oceans
and marine life beloved by our divers.
